Sesamy

In brief: Sesamy has a ready-made integration with Make. Once enabled, Sesamy automatically syncs your subscribers, product catalog, individual subscriptions, and relevant tags to Make.

If you sell subscriptions, podcasts, or individual articles using Sesamy, much of the value lies in post-purchase engagement: welcoming new subscribers, reminding them of what they receive, and winning back those who cancel.

This requires your newsletter platform to know who is subscribed, and to what. With the integration between Sesamy and Make, this happens automatically, without manual exports, imports, or spreadsheets.

What syncs from Sesamy to Make

1. Subscribers

Each user becomes a contact in Make, complete with email address, first name, last name, company, and Sesamy user ID.

2. Tags

Each contact receives tags that reflect their current status with you. All tags from Sesamy start with sesamy_.

3. Product catalog

All active products in Sesamy are added to the product catalog in Make, formatted as "Title – Variant". Each product is only added once.

4. Subscriptions

Each subscription becomes a separate record in Make, linked to the contact and product. The record includes start date, end date (if applicable), and status:

  • Active when the subscription is active in Sesamy.

  • Terminated for everything else, including cancelled, expired, or overdue subscriptions.

How to connect Sesamy to Make

The integration is built into Sesamy and runs on Sesamy servers. No code or developer is required. View documentation on Sesamy.

How to use this data

Tags and subscription data make it easy to build segments in Make and send targeted messages. Here are a few examples:

  • Subscriber onboarding. Send a welcome series to everyone with sesamy_active_subscriber, highlighting what their subscription includes.

  • Product-specific newsletters. Use sesamy_active_sku_{produkt} to send dedicated newsletters to subscribers of each publication or podcast.

  • Payment failure reminders. Notify contacts with sesamy_overdue_contract before their subscription access is revoked.

  • Win-back campaigns. Create a segment of contacts with cancelled subscriptions who are no longer active, and send them an offer to return.

  • Convert single purchases to subscriptions. Contacts with sesamy_made_single_purchase have already shown interest. Reach out with an offer for a recurring subscription.

  • Gift subscriptions. Welcome recipients with sesamy_has_gifted_subscription and guide them on how to continue once the gift period ends.

  • Custom audiences. Tags you create yourself in Sesamy, such as vip, are synced as sesamy_tag_vip in Make.

Remember to ensure you have a legal basis to send marketing communications to recipients, such as explicit consent or an existing customer relationship.
